The problem

Heavy lead vehicles can hide the early signs. Ride quality is usually measured on the locomotive or driving car. Those vehicles are heavy, so a section of track can deteriorate for weeks before they feel it. Lighter and empty cars feel it first.
Wayside monitors see a train once. A fixed site checks each train as it passes, then nothing until the next site. Problems that develop between sites go unseen.
Road Freight
Cab telematics measure the truck, not the cargo. A load at the rear of a trailer moves very differently from the driver’s seat, and most damage happens during loading, transfers and yard handling, when nobody’s systems are watching.
Authorized road quality: Routes are chosen on distance and time, with no data on which roads will potentially be detrimental for your load.

Every reading is timestamped, and location is recorded every second where GPS is available. Raw data is kept unaltered alongside the processed results, and every calibration, alert and system action is logged, so data can be audited by anyone who needs to check it.

Units never overwrite or delete data until the platform confirms the data is received and stored. Data stays live for 3 months and is archived for a further 21 months, or longer by contract, so the data is still there if a claim arrives.
